If studying in France is your dream, the September 2027 intake is the moment to aim for, and the clock has already started. Miss those windows, and you wait a whole year. Hit them well prepared, and a world class, affordable French education is genuinely within reach.

France September 2027 intake timeline and how to apply from Pakistan
The September 2027 intake starts with planning now, the Campus France calendar is already confirmed.

This is your complete roadmap. We’ll walk through every confirmed date, the two intakes, the two application routes (they have different deadlines, and this trips people up), the important new 2026 rules on fees and funds, the full step by step process, and the exact reasons applications fail, so yours doesn’t. Let’s plan your France journey properly.

Who is this guide for?

Pakistani students planning to start a Bachelor’s, Master’s, or other program in France in the September (Fall) 2027 intake.

Why the September 2027 Intake Is Your Best Move

Why the September 2027 intake is the best choice
September is the primary intake, with the most programs, places, and scholarships.

France has quietly become one of the world’s biggest study destinations, hosting more than 443,000 international students, and it’s actively welcoming more. The September (Fall) intake is the heart of it all.

  • The primary intake nearly all public universities, Grandes Écoles, and engineering schools admit in September.
  • The widest choice the most programs, the most places, and the most scholarships are aligned to it.
  • Affordable, world class education France has 38 universities in the QS 2027 rankings, with public tuition far below the UK, USA, or Australia.
  • Scholarship calendars align the Eiffel and Erasmus Mundus timelines are built around September entry.
  • English taught options 1,600 to 1,700+ programs are taught entirely in English.

The catch:

Because September is the main intake, its slots fill quickly and its deadlines are strict and early. The students who succeed are the ones who start months ahead. That’s why this guide exists, to get you moving at the right time.

September vs January: Which Intake to Target

France has two intakes. Knowing the difference helps you choose the right one for your plan:

September 2027 (Fall)

The primary intake

  • The largest cycle most programs and places.
  • All public universities and Grandes Écoles admit here.
  • Scholarships aligned Eiffel, Erasmus, and more.
  • Best default for most Pakistani students.

January 2027 (Spring)

The smaller secondary intake

  • Fewer programs mostly business schools and select postgraduate courses.
  • Not standard across public universities.
  • Needs a stronger SOP justify your timing clearly.
  • Good if your results or documents arrive too late for the Fall.

Our honest advice:

For most Pakistani students, the September 2027 intake is the stronger choice, more programs, more scholarships, and all public universities on the table. Choose January only if timing genuinely forces it or you’re targeting a specific business school.

The Two Application Routes: DAP vs HDAP

DAP vs HDAP application routes on Etudes en France
Your level decides your route (DAP or HDAP), and each has its own deadline.

This is the detail that confuses most applicants, and getting it wrong means missing a deadline. On the Études en France platform, your level decides your route, and each route has its own deadline:

DAP deadline 15 December 2026For: Bachelor 1st year (Licence 1), first year medical (PASS/L.AS), and architecture (all levels). You can choose up to 3 programs.
HDAP deadline 8 January 2027For: Bachelor year 2 and 3, and ALL Master’s programs. You can choose up to 7 programs.
  • Both run on EeF for Pakistan, an Études en France country, both routes are completed online on the platform.
  • Grandes Écoles & business schools often use their own portals or entrance exams (like SESAME or Avenir), but EeF still handles your visa step.
  • Arts & design may go through CampusArt (open ~1 October to ~28 February).
  • Selective streams (IUT, prep classes) follow a separate process, not DAP.

Check the institution is connected to EeF first:

Some French institutions are not on the Études en France platform and require a direct application on their own website (though the visa still goes through Campus France). Also verify your chosen institution is listed in the UNESCO WHED database before applying, or you may face problems later.

3 Important New Rules for 2026 to 2027 (Don’t Get Caught Out)

France changed three big rules in 2026, and they all affect students entering in 2027. Plan for these now:

  • 1. Higher proof of funds from 1 August 2026, you must show about €877.50 per month (up from €615), a 43% increase set at 47% of the French minimum wage. More on this below.
  • 2. Differentiated tuition is now mandatory non EU students pay around €2,902/year for a public Bachelor’s and €3,941/year for a public Master’s (PhD is exempt). Grandes Écoles and business schools cost far more.
  • 3. Fewer fee exemptions the share of non EU students universities can exempt from higher fees drops from 30% (2026 to 27) to 25% (2027 to 28), so treat any waiver as a bonus, not a certainty.

Old figures are out of date:

If you read older guides mentioning €615/month, ignore that number for a 2027 application. The current requirement is about €877.50/month, and preparing your finances on the old figure could get your visa rejected.

Step by Step: How to Apply for September 2027

Step by step how to apply for France September 2027
From your first EeF click to arrival, each step builds on the one before.

Here’s the complete journey from your first click to your arrival in France. Each step depends on the one before it, so follow the order:

  1. Research & shortlist (from now) Choose your level and programs, check each institution is on EeF and listed in WHED, and note whether you’re on the DAP or HDAP route.
  2. Prepare documents & attestations Get your Matric and Intermediate/A Level attested by IBCC, and your degree by HEC (MOFA where needed). Arrange your language certificate (DELF/TCF or IELTS).
  3. Contact universities for scholarships (Sept 2026) If you want the Eiffel scholarship, approach universities in September 2026, they nominate you, and their internal deadlines fall in October or November.
  4. Create your EeF account (from 1 Oct 2026) Open your Études en France account, fill in your personal and academic details, and select your programs (up to 3 for DAP, up to 7 for HDAP).
  5. Upload documents & submit Upload every required document as a clean PDF and submit before your route’s deadline (15 Dec 2026 for DAP, 8 Jan 2027 for HDAP), or the Pakistan cut off if earlier.
  6. Pay the EeF fee & attend your interview Pay the PKR 30,000 EeF fee, then attend your academic interview at the nearest Alliance Française (Islamabad, Lahore, or Karachi).
  7. Receive decisions & confirm your choice Universities respond by 30 April 2027. If admitted to several, confirm your one final choice by 31 May 2027, silence counts as a rejection.
  8. Apply for your student visa (VLS TS) Complete the France Visas form, book your AEG appointment (bring your EeF certificate and payment receipt), give biometrics, and show your proof of funds.
  9. Travel & validate on ANEF Fly to France for the September intake, then validate your VLS TS online on ANEF within 3 months of arrival (a mandatory step with a small fiscal stamp fee).

Documents You’ll Need

Prepare these early, PDF scans, correctly attested. A complete, clean file is the foundation of a strong application:

  • Academic transcripts & certificates Matric and Intermediate/A Level (IBCC attested), and any degree (HEC attested); MOFA where required.
  • Statement of Purpose (SOP) a clear 1 to 2 page explanation of your study plan and goals.
  • Language certificate DELF/TCF (French) or IELTS/accepted alternative (English), per your program.
  • Passport valid, with enough validity for your studies.
  • CV / resume clear and up to date.
  • Recommendation letters on letterhead, signed and dated (recommended).
  • Proof of funds bank statements or sponsor documents (see below).
  • Sworn translation any document not in French or English must be translated by a sworn translator.

Get the technical details right:

The EeF portal accepts PDFs only, usually with a small file size limit, so scan clearly and compress if needed. Name files simply and keep everything consistent with what you say at your interview. Neat, matching documents build instant trust.

Proof of Funds: the New €877.50 Rule

This is one of the most important 2027 updates. To get your student visa, you must prove you can support yourself in France, and the required amount has risen sharply.

  • €877.50 per month the new minimum from 1 August 2026 (up from €615), about €10,530 for a full year.
  • A 43% increase set at 47% of the French minimum wage, and reviewed each year.
  • Plus tuition you should also be able to cover your tuition on top.
  • Accepted sources personal savings, a sponsor (first degree relative with an attestation), a scholarship, or a blocked account (compte bloqué).
  • Consistency is everything steady funds over months beat a big last minute deposit, which is the number one rejection trigger.

Never park a sudden lump sum:

A large amount landing just before you apply is the clearest red flag a visa officer sees. Build your funds genuinely over time, and if you have a sponsor, make sure their income can explain the money. See our

proof of funds guide

for the full picture.

The Academic Interview (a Key Step)

As part of the Campus France process, you’ll attend a mandatory academic interview. It’s where your file is verified and your study plan discussed.

  • Where at the nearest Alliance Française: Islamabad, Lahore, or Karachi.
  • Booked via EeF the interview is booked through the portal, and you bring all originals plus your fee receipt.
  • What it produces the Campus France officer writes an “avis” (advisory opinion) that goes to the consulate.
  • Be consistent your answers must match your documents exactly; consistency is what convinces.

Preparation wins interviews:

Know your course, your reasons for choosing France, your funding, and your plans, and make sure everything you say lines up with your written file. A calm, well prepared interview strongly supports your whole application.

Why You Must Start Now (the Timing Math)

Here’s the reality that catches students out every year: they start too late. For a September 2027 intake, the very first actions belong in 2026, not 2027.

  • Scholarships: September 2026 Eiffel nominations happen months before the Campus France deadline.
  • EeF opens: 1 October 2026 your account, documents, and program choices all start here.
  • Deadlines: December 2026 & January 2027 DAP then HDAP, just weeks after the portal opens.
  • Attestations take time IBCC, HEC, and MOFA processing, plus language tests, must be done in advance.

The simple rule:

Begin four to five months before your intended start, at the latest. Starting in mid 2027 for a September 2027 entry is the single most common (and most avoidable) mistake. Early applicants get better program choices and smoother interview slots.

Why September 2027 Applications Fail and How to Avoid It

Most failures come down to a handful of avoidable mistakes. Fix these before you apply:

Missing the deadlineApplying after your route’s cut off (15 Dec 2026 for DAP, 8 Jan 2027 for HDAP, or the earlier Pakistan date) means your file isn’t considered, and you wait a year.Fix it first: Start months early, confirm the exact Pakistan deadline, and submit well before the cut off.
Not confirming your final choiceIf you’re admitted but don’t confirm your one program by 31 May 2027, it’s treated as a rejection.Fix it first: Diarise 31 May 2027 and respond in time, silence costs you your place.
Weak or inconsistent fundsShowing less than €877.50/month, or a sudden lump sum deposit, is the number one rejection reason.Fix it first: Build genuine, steady funds over months at the new threshold, and document your sponsor’s income.
An incoherent study planA program list spread across unrelated fields reads as a weak, non genuine plan at the interview.Fix it first: Pick one clear field, then vary by university and city, and write an SOP that connects it all.
Documents that don’t match or aren’t attestedUnattested transcripts, missing sworn translations, or originals that differ from your uploads cause rejections.Fix it first: Attest everything (IBCC/HEC/MOFA), translate where needed, and make uploads and originals identical.
Assuming a fee waiverWith the exemption pool shrinking to 25% for 2027 to 28, budgeting on a waiver you may not get can wreck your finances.Fix it first: Budget for full differentiated tuition, and treat any exemption or scholarship as a welcome bonus.

Frequently asked questions

When does the France September 2027 intake application open? +

The Études en France (EeF) platform opens on 1 October 2026 for the 2027/2028 academic year. Deadlines follow soon after: 15 December 2026 for DAP (Bachelor 1st year, medical, architecture) and 8 January 2027 for HDAP (Bachelor year 2 to 3 and all Master’s). Campus France Pakistan may set an earlier local cut off, so confirm on their official site.

What is the difference between DAP and HDAP? +

DAP (Demande d’Admission Préalable) is for the first year of a Bachelor’s, first year medical (PASS/L.AS), and architecture, with up to 3 program choices and a 15 December 2026 deadline. HDAP (Hors DAP) is for Bachelor year 2 to 3 and all Master’s, with up to 7 choices and an 8 January 2027 deadline. Both are completed on the EeF platform.

How much money do I need to show for 2027? +

From 1 August 2026, the minimum proof of funds rose to about €877.50 per month (around €10,530 per year), up from €615. That’s a 43% increase, set at 47% of the French minimum wage. You should also be able to cover your tuition. Prepare your finances on this new figure, not the old €615.

How much is tuition for Pakistani students in 2027? +

At public universities, non EU students pay around €2,902/year for a Bachelor’s and €3,941/year for a Master’s under the differentiated fee system (PhD is exempt). Grandes Écoles and business schools charge far more (roughly €6,000 to €20,000+). The fee exemption pool is also shrinking to 25% for 2027 to 28, so don’t assume a waiver.

Is Campus France mandatory for the 2027 intake? +

Yes. Pakistan is an Études en France country, so you must complete the Campus France procedure (including the academic interview) before applying for your student visa. Without it, the consulate will not process your visa. It’s the essential first gate for the September 2027 intake.

When should I start preparing for September 2027? +

Now. For scholarships like Eiffel, contact universities in September 2026. Open your EeF account when the platform launches on 1 October 2026. Attestations (IBCC/HEC/MOFA) and language tests take time, so begin four to five months ahead at the latest. Starting late is the most common reason students miss the intake.

Does Westside Visa help with the September 2027 intake? +

Yes from mapping your timeline and choosing the right route and programs to building your EeF file, preparing your funds and SOP, coaching your interview, and bridging to your visa. We can’t promise admission or a visa (no honest consultant can), but we make your application as strong and smooth as possible. Contact us to get started.
