Questions & Answer
Get clear answers about our IELTS training, course structure, and preparation process to help you achieve your target band score with confidence.
It depends entirely on your destination and purpose. Academic is for university admission and professional registration. General Training is for migration to Canada or Australia and for most work routes. UKVI versions are required for UK visa applications. Life Skills is only for UK family, settlement, and citizenship routes. Booking the wrong test means paying for it twice. we confirm the correct one for your route before you register.
Life Skills tests only Speaking and Listening, takes between 16 and 32 minutes, and results are pass or fail with no band score. It is taken in pairs with another candidate and an examiner. It exists solely to meet UK Home Office English requirements at levels A1, A2, and B1. it cannot be used for university admission or for immigration to any country other than the UK.
The test content, format, and scoring are identical. The difference is administrative: UKVI tests are delivered at centres approved by the UK Home Office under stricter security conditions, and results are issued on a different form with a unique reference number. If your UK visa route specifies IELTS for UKVI, a standard IELTS result will be refused regardless of your score.
For UK student routes, generally 5.5 to 6.5 depending on course level. Canadian institutions typically require 6.0 to 6.5, and Canadian Express Entry usually needs CLB 7, equivalent to 6.0 in each module. Australian universities commonly ask for 6.5 overall. Professional registration bodies often set higher requirements. UK nursing registration, for example, requires 7.0. We verify the current requirement for your specific institution or route.
Yes, through IELTS One Skill Retake, where available at your test centre. You must have sat the full test first, and the retake must be taken at the same centre within a set period. It's a significant saving in both time and fees when you're only one band short in a single module. We run focused preparation for exactly that module.
It depends on your starting level and your target. Moving from 5.5 to 6.5 typically takes longer than polishing a 6.5 to a 7. Life Skills preparation is generally shorter because it covers only two skills. After your diagnostic assessment, we give you a realistic timeline rather than a standard promise and if your deadline isn't achievable, we'll say so.
Content and difficulty are the same. Computer-delivered results arrive in 3 to 5 days versus around 13 for paper, and many candidates find typing easier than handwriting under time pressure. Paper suits those who prefer annotating question papers directly. Note that the Speaking test is face-to-face with an examiner in both formats. Our practice covers both.
Yes. We run in-person sessions at our DHA Phase 5 office in Lahore and online classes for students elsewhere in Pakistan or abroad. Online students receive the same mock tests, speaking sessions, and writing correction.
Fees vary by test type and format, Life Skills preparation costs less than a full four-module Academic course, and one-to-one sessions cost more than group classes. We quote in writing after your free assessment so the price reflects what you actually need. The IELTS test fee is paid separately to the British Council or IDP.
In Pakistan, IELTS is administered by the British Council and IDP IELTS, both with centres in Lahore. Registration is made directly with them. We advise on which test to book, which format, and which date based on your readiness and application deadlines.
Yes. Our Foundation package is built for students starting from a lower level, working on underlying English competence before moving into exam technique. The diagnostic assessment tells us where to begin.
That's the main reason students choose us. Once you have your result, the same team handles university shortlisting, admission applications, SOP writing, document attestation, and visa filing for study, work, or family routes, so nothing is lost handing your case between a language centre and a separate consultancy.
