What happens after you graduate
China does not have a general post study work visa. Staying on means a job offer and a work permit, which some cities make easier for graduates of Chinese universities. Many graduates return home or to the Gulf with a ranked degree and Mandarin, or move on to a PhD.

For China you need the admission letter and the JW201 or JW202 form from your university before the embassy will issue your X1 visa.

Ask your questionIs a Chinese degree recognised in Pakistan?
Degrees from accredited Chinese universities are recognised by HEC. For medicine, only approved English medium programmes count, and graduates must pass the licensing exam in Pakistan. We check recognition before you apply.
Can I study in China in English?
Yes. Many leading universities teach bachelor’s, master’s and medicine in English. Programmes taught in Mandarin need an HSK certificate, usually level 4 or 5, or a language year first.
What is the Chinese Government Scholarship?
A scholarship that can cover tuition, housing, medical insurance and a monthly stipend. You apply through a Chinese university or the embassy route, usually early in the year for a September start.
How much does it cost to study in China?
English taught bachelor’s tuition is typically RMB 20,000 to 40,000 a year, and living costs are about RMB 2,000 to 4,000 a month. We confirm current figures at your assessment.
What is the X1 visa?
The X1 is the student visa for study longer than 180 days. You need your admission letter and the JW201 or JW202 form. After arriving you convert it into a residence permit within 30 days.
Can I work while studying in China?
Only part time or internship work approved by your university and the local authorities. Plan your budget without work income.
Is halal food available in China?
Yes. Halal restaurants run by Chinese Muslim communities are found in every major city, and many universities have halal canteens.
Can I stay in China after graduating?
There is no general post study work visa. You need a job offer and a work permit. Some cities have schemes that help graduates of Chinese universities.
