Cyprus does not have a dedicated post study work visa like the UK Graduate route. Staying on means finding a job with an employer who applies for your work permit, or moving on to a master’s in another EU country with your EU degree.

Ask your questionIs a degree from Cyprus recognised?
Degrees from accredited universities in the Republic of Cyprus are EU degrees and are recognised across Europe and by HEC. Degrees from universities in Northern Cyprus are not recognised by the EU, so we do not recommend them.
What is the difference between North and South Cyprus?
The Republic of Cyprus in the south is the EU member state. Northern Cyprus is recognised only by Turkey. A student permit or degree from the north does not give you EU recognition or EU travel rights.
Do I need IELTS for Cyprus?
Most universities ask for IELTS or an equivalent, usually 5.5 to 6.0 for bachelor’s and 6.0 to 6.5 for master’s. Some accept Duolingo, PTE or their own English test. Ask us which apply to your university.
How much does it cost to study in Cyprus?
Private university tuition is typically €6,000 to €12,000 a year, and living costs are about €300 to €600 a month in shared housing. We confirm current figures for your university at your assessment.
Can I work while studying in Cyprus?
Students from outside the EU may work limited hours, about 20 a week, in permitted sectors, with rules on when work can start. Your study must stay the main purpose of your stay.
Can I stay in Cyprus after graduating?
There is no dedicated post study work visa. To stay, you need a job with an employer who applies for your work permit. Many graduates use their EU degree to move on to a master’s elsewhere in Europe.
Is Cyprus part of Schengen?
Cyprus is in the EU but not yet a full Schengen member, so your Cyprus residence permit does not by itself let you travel across Schengen. Check current rules before planning trips.
How long does the Cyprus student visa take?
After your university files the entry permit application, approval usually takes several weeks. Apply at least three months before your intake.
