Canada Visit Visa (TRV) Guide from Pakistan
Everything you need to visit Canada, the requirements, documents, fees, biometrics, proof of funds and the full application process, explained in plain, simple language.

Canada remains a top choice for Pakistani students world class universities, part time work rights, and a real pathway to stay and work after you graduate.
In this guide, we explain everything in plain English, what the Canada study visa is, the 2026 to 2027 rules, the money you need, the step by step process, and how to work during and after your studies. Let’s begin.
Why start now for 2027?
Canada limits how many students each province can accept, and the required attestation letters (PAL) run out quick. For a September 2027 intake, you should ideally begin
12 to 18 months ahead
that means acting in 2026. Ready to plan smart?

A Canada study visa officially the study permit lets you study at a Canadian Designated Learning Institution (DLI) for any program longer than six months. You apply after a Canadian school accepts you, and you must show you can pay for tuition and living costs.
It’s more than a student pass. It opens the door to part time work while you study, a Post Graduation Work Permit after you finish, and for many a future path to permanent residence.
| What it is | Study permit for programs over 6 months at a DLI |
| Key documents | Letter of Acceptance + PAL/TAL (most cases) + proof of funds |
| Proof of funds | CAD $22,895 living + first year tuition + travel (single, outside Quebec) |
| Permit fee | CAD $150 + biometrics CAD $85 |
| Work rights | Up to 24 hrs/week in term; unlimited on breaks |
| After graduation | PGWP up to 3 years (conditions apply) |

Canadian schools open their doors three times a year. Choosing the right intake and starting early makes all the difference.
| September 2027 | Fall Intake | The biggest and most popular. Most programs, scholarships, and seats. Start by early mid 2026. |
| January 2027 | Winter Intake | A strong second option with fewer programs. Good if you missed Fall. Plan around 12 months ahead. |
| May 2027 | Spring/Summer Intake | Smallest intake, limited programs. Useful for specific courses and quicker starts. |
Our honest advice:
for a strong application and the best chance at a PAL and scholarships, aim for
Fall (September) 2027
and begin the process in early 2026. Waiting too long is the most common reason students miss a full year.

Good news for graduate students:
since the 2026 framework,
Master’s and PhD students
at eligible public DLIs are
exempt from the PAL
requirement. If you’re heading for a graduate degree, that’s one less hurdle.

This is where many applications succeed or fail, so let’s be crystal clear. For a single student studying outside Quebec, you must show:
Acceptable proof includes a GIC, four months of bank statements, an approved education loan, a sponsor’s affidavit with financials, or proof your tuition is already paid. The key is showing the money is real and clearly sourced vague or last minute deposits raise red flags.
Here’s the full journey for a 2027 intake. We guide you through each stage.

Ask on WhatsAppLet’s talk money honestly. Beyond your living funds, here are the main government fees.
| Study permit fee | CAD $150 |
| Biometrics | CAD $85 |
| GIC (refundable) | Around CAD $22,895 (returned to you in Canada) |
| Tuition | Varies by program & school |
| Language test | IELTS/PTE fee, varies |
Please note:
the GIC amount is your own money that comes back to you in Canada, it’s proof, not a fee. Government fees change over time, so treat these as a guide. For an exact plan for your program,
ask Westside Visa
and check the official IRCC website.
You can work up to 24 hours per week off campus during academic terms, and full time during scheduled breaks like summer and winter holidays. Never exceed the limit even one extra hour can hurt your future permit applications.
The Post Graduation Work Permit (PGWP) lets eligible graduates work in Canada for up to three years. Most applicants now need a language test result (usually CLB 7 for degrees), and some college and non degree programs must be in eligible fields. Bachelor’s, Master’s, and PhD graduates are exempt from the field of study rule. This work experience can open doors to permanent residence.
